After a truck accident in 2002, at the age of 8, my granddaughter, Lindsey was not expected to live through the night.
God had different plans in mind for this determined young woman. After surgeons removed part of her injured brain, she was placed in a coma for thirty days.
As her grandmother, my heart ached to see her parents and family watch in agony as she fought for her life. Sustained by constant prayer, skilled surgeons, and excellent health care workers, Lindsey pulled through, to the amazement of her doctors.
Lindsey seems to have that extraordinary wonder, or gratefulness for life and the beauty of God’s creation that some of us might take for granted at times. She loves our beaches, the gulf waters, starry nights, dolphins, and still enjoys being “tucked in at night” by her grandmother. She likes for me to sing to her, and she loves to laugh.
Life really is a miracle. Wonders unfold all around us each day.
I thank God for the wonder of my “miracle granddaughter.”
